Kittens

Your kitten is growing at an incredible rate! In the first six months, your kitten will be potty trained, lose baby teeth, get adult teeth and start puberty!  A year old cat is equivalent in age to an 7 to 9 year old person!

 

This is why it is so important to have your kitten examined several times during the first 6 months.  During these exams, the doctor will assess the overall health of your kitten.  These appointments are also a great time to ask questions of the technician and doctor about the care of your kitten, or any behavioral concerns that you may have.

 

Here’s what to expect during your kitten’s first year:

 

First Visit (7-9 Weeks)

Physical Exam

Fecal sample to check for intestinal parasites

First distemper combination vaccination

Feline Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Test

Preventive deworming

Begin internal parasite prevention programs

Second Visit (11-13 Weeks)

Physical Exam

Second distemper combination vaccination

Discuss feline leukemia vaccine

Fecal sample to check for intestinal parasites

Continue internal parasite prevention


Third Visit (15-18 Weeks)

Physical Exam

Fecal sample to check for intestinal parasites

Third distemper combination vaccination; second feline leukemia vaccine:

 rabies vaccination

Baseline wellness and presurgical screening blood tests

Continue internal parasite prevention

 

 

6 Months

Physical Exam

Spay/Neuter

Microchip Placement

Application of a plaque barrier sealant (Oravet)

Continue internal parasite prevention

  

Annually

Physical Exam

Fecal sample to check for intestinal parasites

Wellness Blood Screening

Vaccines
