Our Equine Department offers a variety of on-farm care. The emphasis of our equine program is to educate RVVS clients in preventive medicine and current veterinary techniques. View our team member bios below, as well as the variety of services we provide through our Equine Department.

Dr. Bruce Viren:  Bruce obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois in 1982. He and his wife Dr. Cindy Sellin started River Valley Veterinary Service in 1984. Dr. Viren is involved in the Equine and SmallAnimal departments at River Valley. His special interests include dentistry, endoscopy, ultrasound and general surgery in both departments. He enjoys sport activities like basketball, volleyball, adventure racing, and loves to go camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

 


Tami Wenthold, AHT, graduated in 1980 from the University of Minnesota - Waseca in Animal Health. She worked at several clinics before joining River Valley Veterinary Service in 1988. These days she is primarily an Equine Technician in the field with Dr. Viren. Her life revolves around animals both at work and at home. She spends most of her free time in northern Minnesota where she and her husband have a Bed and Corral (www.WentNorth.com) for trail riding enthusiasts next to the Huntersville State Forest.

  


Michelle DuPont: Michelle became aquainted with River Valley Veterinary Service while she was managing a large horse facility in the area. Her outgoing personality and horse skills made her a prime candidate when a job opening became available as Equine Assistant/ Receptionist. Her 2 cats Tigger & Squirt, dog Oscar, and horse Jesse occupy most of her free time. She likes riding, outdoor activities, and dancing.

 
Kathy Hennen:  Kathy joined the staff of River Valley Veterinary Service in 1994. She and her husband Jamie have two adult daughters, Becky and Emily.  A busy Labrador named Riley completes the Hennen family. Kathy is a member of Veterinary Practice Managers Network of Minnesota and the American Animal Hospital Association. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, training with Riley, and attending Gopher sporting events.
